As in her previous book, Why Men Love Bitches, Argov does not use the word "bitch" in a pejorative way, but rather "to describe a strong woman who has her own identity and is secure with who she is." And while encouraging women to be strong, independent and inscrutable is sound advice, the motivation behind this advice-to keep his interest-makes for a headache-inspiring contradiction. Fortunately, Argov takes readers step-by-step through her process, including numerous "Relationship Principles" that keeps her concepts clear ("Relationship Principle 35: Men are intrigued by anything they do not completely control."). Though the generalizations Argov uses to describe her pre-bitch audience can at times be condescending, and her goals are more about acting-rather than believing-that you don't need a man to feel complete, the behavior she encourages is healthy and useful, even outside the realm of husband-hunting. Taken more as a Bitch's Guide to Life-the word "relationship," after all, doesn't necessarily imply romance-this is a solid self-help.

I loved this book entirely for the way it focuses on ...

I loved this book entirely for the way it focuses on self-respect. If you respect yourself enough, and don't fall for any b.s., and don't put up with it either, you will find the right guy for you. It's not about appeasing him. It's about serving your needs and finding the person who will best suit your life. You aren't an object; you have feelings and opinions; and you are in no way his servant. You are you, and you deserve the best.
Several chapters in here had their faults-- for example, teaching women how to behave while giving their guy oral sex. First of all, you NEVER have to do anything you don't want to do. Second, with the men saying pretty bluntly that they expect you to not enjoy it, there is no real motivation on your part to do it. Only do what you want to do.
Secondly, there's a section on "tests" vs. disrespect, whereby men will try to evaluate you by purposely being jerks-- but as Sherry even points out, any amount of disrespect is too much. Do not tolerate any of it. I don't mean put up a fuss- I mean get a new guy. If he's going to do that, as she explains as well, he'll try more and more disrespectful things just to see what he can get away with. You don't want that type of guy. Don't waste your time. And, as she says as well, once you're out of it, and realize you've been letting yourself be disrespected, that's the killer for you. That's what'll bother you most. So don't go down that path. You deserve the best!
The whole purpose of this book, minus the parts I didn't agree with, above, is to invest in yourself, and value yourself first. You don't need him; you want him. You are whole on your own. And you are the one who gets to ask: what's in it for me? instead of "where is this relationship going?" Who gave him that control? Not you! Not me! You live your life and the right guy will come and see how he can fit into it. Enjoy!

This is the perfect book

I cannot say enough good things about this book!
So many women think the clingyness, and the nagging will win a guy over But it fails so badly. This is a book every woman needs to read!
Here are some things I learned from this book
* After a year or two, He knows if you will stay , he's getting a free ride. He assumes if you are letting him have that free ride, there is something wrong with you.
A B*** has strength of conviction! she will leave if she doesn't get what she wants. Thats why she always ends up with what she wants.
She doesn't hint or talk about marriage, No "where is this going?" she instead hints about the removal of herself from the relationship.
Stand up for yourself in a diginified, Feminine and womanly way You can get anything you want from a man this way.

When you are easily manipulated, He assumes he doesn't have to give as much as far as commitment to keep you there.
When you respond with a level head He'll realize he's dealing with an equal.
* Men hear what they see.
Know the difference from a test and disrespect.
- Disrespected is repeated and continual.
Example: He'll call and cancel a date to see how you respond.
That is a test.
If you don't provide a reaction to his bad behavior, It takes the fun out of it. And He'll stop.
Once you start copying the same behavior he's doing, The bad behavior will suddenly stop.
*If he gives you a legitimate reason on things, Be understanding.
When you speak calmly, He assumes it's more important.
- When you attack him, He doesn't correct it or examine his bad behavior. You need to avoid attacking him.
But at the same time let him know his behavior doesn't fly.

Great advice for life in general

I read this book, as well as the first one ("Why Men Date Bitches"), and I think they are both full of great information that a person can apply not only to dating, but life as well. Women too often let people walk all over them, and accommodate every whim because they think it will get people to like them more (I speak from personal experience). But when you realize it's the people who don't do this are actually the ones getting people to fawn all over them, it's easy to understand why men would go for the "bitch." I've made all my friends read the dating one, unfortunately they don't apply the principles, and surprise, surprise, none of them have healthy relationships. I'm not saying that if you don't do what this book says, you will have unhealthy relationships; my friends are just those nice girls who think that doing everything for their man will keep him around and satisfied, and that goes to show that it's not always true.
