Beyond Inspirational, to action.

I found this book via my hearty devouring of Steve Farber's two previous books and it brought the entire picture in to focus. I can now see the 'greater' direction I'll be headed when I begin to apply the principles of extreme leadership to my life and business. The characters, situations, locations and experiences in these books, real or fictional, oddly mirror much of my own life, and I was able to directly relate them to my own challenges. At times, the characters and concepts were confusing, and I wish I'd retained more of the numerous nuggets, principles and philosophies top of mind, but I'm happy to re-read to refresh my memory.

Now more than ever

Steve Farber's new book, Greater Than Yourself, addresses a deep need in the business world and society at large. It's an incredibly inspiring story that pushes you to go out and find someone to take under your wing and help become 'greater than yourself'. In other words, it's about leaving a legacy of people who have succeeded at least in part because of you. It's mentoring on steroids, if you want it put simply. But more than that, I believe that helping others is the only way we'll all pull out of this economic morass we're in. We've got to start creating more opportunities for others -- so that everyone can benefit. Read this book and get started helping someone right away. You and your business will benefit too -- more than you can imagine.

Principle Centered - Great Book

Truly inspired principle written in allegorical form. Greater Than Yourself proved to be a great starting point for anyone interested in learning to lead well and then multiplying that leadership in order to make a significant cultural shift in any organization or community. The book comes complete with an ending invitation into the community of GTY. It asked you to take the principle presented seriously and apply it in your life. Legendary idea for an up and coming leadership market. The bottom line is this - Greater Than Yourself is the most unique book on leadership I have read in a long time. It reads very easy and even made me pick up my dusty guitar again and try to figure out where I left off 5 years ago. (I said it was an allegory) If leadership is your bent or if you can't figure out why you are pigeon holed at your current place of employment I recommend this book for you.

About the Author

A pioneer of modern palliative care, Cicely Saunders has helped change the way the world cares for the terminally ill. She founded St. Christopher's Hospice in 1967 as the first research and teaching hospice linked with clinical care. Dame Cicely holds many honours including degrees and the Order of Merit and was made a Dame of the British Empire in 1980. In 2001 she received the Conrad N Hilton Humanitarian Prize - the world's largest humanitarian award - of one million dollars for her work originated at St Christopher's Hospice. She is a Founder Trustee and President of a new force in hospice care - The Cicely Saunders Foundation. This unique charity, founded in 2002, seeks to improve the care of people at the end of life wherever they are cared for. David Clark is currently engaged in a number of studies concerned with service evaluation relating to the provision of palliative care and with issues of policy development, the international growth of palliative care and related ethical issues. He has a particular interest in the historical development of the modern end of life care movement and is currently writing a book about the history of the Project on Death in America. Superb book

Very good book, a lot of information and the entire description of german army uniform regulations created in 21 september 1915 who introduced german "Bluse" uniform and other modifications.

the book only fails to not have the final part of the original book that describes rank insignia regalia and other badges. I got the third party buying from another source.

About the Author
John McClellan is one of America's most respected guitarists and is the Head of Classical Guitar Studies at Webster University in Saint Louis, Missouri. He has toured throughout Europe, South America, and Australia and has performed with diverse groups of musicians ranging from Tommy Emmanuel to Lucianno Pavarotti. He along with his duo partner, Kirk Hanser (The Hanser-McClellan Guitar Duo) organized the highly successful Guitar Foundation of America International Festival in 1996.

Chet Atkins books 95% there

Volume 2 and its predecessor are obviously labors of love on the parts of the authors and contributors. The reminiscences and anecdotal stuff are fun. If you couldn't tell it from his music, Chet was probably the most wholesome and genuinely niceguy to ever work in the music biz. We get really interesting glimpses into the Nashville scene of the Chet era.

But the transcriptions are what it's all about, and again, the authors have really put in the time and effort to get them right. I definitely recommend that all Chet aspirants should pick up these two volumes. So why only 4 stars? I don't think it would've killed 'em to include chord symbols above the staff. Sure, it's good training to analyze the harmonies on one's own, but for at-a-glance understanding of Chet's arranging approach, chord substitutions, quickly grasping the left-hand chord shapes, and getting a sense of the overall A-B-C structure of the song, it would have been a big help. Maybe in the next edition....

Much better than Vol. 1

Although this book is similar to Vol. 1, in that it contains a lot of pictures and history text, there is a better selection of some of Chet"s more popular instrumentals. There are some chord notations in a few of the tabs, but still no chord diagrams. There are no performance notes concerning some of Chet"s unique fingering techniques. So it is not a teaching book and like Vol. 1 not for the beginner.

I loved the book. The reading was interesting & informative. The pictures were interesting & enjoyable. If the music had had chord symbols I'd have given it 5 stars. Many of us don't have the knowledge or ability to figure out the chords just by looking at the music.

The most helpful tool I've ever gotten for my severe anxiety

Honestly one of the best books I've ever purchased. Very quick and to the point, no frills, which is SO important if you have anxiety, as it can be hard to immerse yourself in something for too long. Exercises are wonderful for self reflection, and perfect for preparing yourself for the right questions - either to yourself, your loved ones, or your therapist.

This truly is a one-size fits all book for ALL anxiety, even the most severe (I have what's arguably the hardest one to deal with since there is no such thing as exposure therapy for it and you can never fully overcome it). It covers everything from social anxiety to phobias of death, from everyday stress to how to deal with loss.

I carry this tiny book with me in my purse on days I might need to pause and gather myself. It offers no empty promises or reassurances like a lot of books do with "uplifting anecdotes" about people who aren't you - it keeps things logical and in perspective, which is what most anxiety sufferers truly need.

Good book but buy the paperback not E download version

This book has a lot of good information in it. The on drawback for me was in the Kindle version. The format in which the words are presented are horrible. The sentences are in the middle of each page and a lot of words a broken up and makes it hard reading. Also in the middle there are sometimes 15 to 20 words in a single line (one letter by itself) right down the middle of the page with no seperation of the words. This for me seemed crazy. You had to sit and try to disassemble each word. Then 3 letters of a word would be on one page and 4 or the remaining lettyers of the word would be on the next page. If you buy this book it is good reading and very helpful just get the paperback version

The title of this little book helped Britain to survive ...

The title of this little book helped Britain to survive the extremes of WWII and keep their mental faculties while going through extreme trauma. It helped me so much and also the many others I have given this book to when they needed a solid anchor to help them through their storms. I am very grateful to Mark Reinecke, PH.D. for writing such a simple yet powerful self improvement volume.
