The section on financial stmmt modeling and projections (pro forma) is one of the best out there. It is only a slice of what the book offers but if you are an equity analyst and asked to build models, I would buy this book based on the section it has on forecasting. It is not the end all be all, but a solid effort to supplement your other modeling books.........

Gives you friendly help with an unfriendly program

The File Maker Pro 2006 version is not user friendly. At work we have this "File Maker Pro Bible" a book 2.5" thick and it is so difficult to use I go unconscious in 10 minutes. This Dummies book is very good, very comfortable to use. It shows what is on the screen or gives you explicit instructions where to look for icons, etc. I do not recommend the 2006 version of File Maker Pro but if you're stuck with it like me, then get this book. It really helps.

We purchased the FileMaker v.11 from Amazon, and MISTAKENLY accepted their recommendation to purchase a "package" consisting of two books, in addition to the software. Well, the software is v.11, and the "Dummies" book talks exclusively about v.8! Somewhere between v.8 and v.11, there must have been a sea change in the software, because the "Dummies" book is of ABSOLUTELY no use!
As we know, there's practically no (usable) documentation coming with software packages these days, and the Dummies books are usually of great help. Here, though, somebody at Amazon was apparently not watching the store.

Review of Filemaker pro Design & Scripting for Dummies

This book has proved helpful to me because I am new to the Filemaker Pro Database tool set. However, the only complaint I find is that the book clearly does not tell you up front for what particular edition of Filemaker its designed for. Some things jjust aren't covered. An example of this is different samples of uses for scripts and calculations.

I would love to see a book about how to take different classes of problems and use proper script, and operators, to calculate something and use the answer in a solution. But concatenating text to provide a full name doesn't cut it in my book. So for me, the book isn't as useful as it could be.

From the preludes series, I have come to expect average books. They don't live up to the original chronicles series or the legends series, but they manage to stay in a quality worth reading. Flint the King is no exception.

Some of the problems:

Flint goes through the darken wood with no difficulty. Darken wood is supposed to be so dangerous few people have actually gone through it and lived(chronicles) but the book treats it like any other trip.

Flint becoming king/protector of the gully dwarves and getting along with them doesn't fit in the least with his stance toward bupu and the others in the chronicles.

Flint is too strong in this book. He manages to fight off a troll at one point, yet this is set before the chronicles in which he has difficulty fighting the low end draconians.

Despite all of this however, like the other preludes books, if you just read it on its own and ignore all the contradictions with earlier and IMO better books, you will find that you are reading an all together enjoyable book.

This book really shows you a side of Flint that we don't get to see in the books with the companions. If focuses on his leadership abilities, his compassion for other races (especially the gully dwarves)and even shows him over coming his own prejudice towards his cousins (mountian dwarves). It also shows that Flint is capable of love. Very adventurous, funny and might even shed a tear for him. If your a fan of the companions then do yourself a favor and read about Flint. :) Youll see Flint in a whole new light.

Flint the King is one of the better dragonlance books in the genre. I was a little hesitant when i first picked up this book, thinking that it would be boring the whole way through. But i was severely wrong in that thinking. Not only was the book action packed, funny, emotional, but it had a great story line that keeps you hooked the whole way through.
When Flint goes to the lair of the mountain dwarves to investigate a murder, as well as discover what is happening to his town, he ends up getting captured. He is setenced to death, but ends up getting saved by some gully dwarves, along with a rather accentric mountain dwarf.
Flint must make the smelly, dirty, dumb gully dwarves into an army that can help him save his village from a terror that could wipe the town off of the map. Along with the female mountain dwarf, Flint tries desperately to save not only his life, but the life of all his family and friends.
This book is filled with just the right amount of action, suspense, and emotion, carrying you through the book until the last page flips by. Yes Flint is romantic in this book, but it does nothing to take away from the character that was established by Wies and Hickman back in the day. This book is definately up to the wonderful duo's standard, and will prove to be a great read.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book.

It was exactly what I was looking for and answered so many of my questions about energy work and healing. Since reading it, I have met the author Tamara Laing, and she is a delightful person. I am very grateful to her for writing this book. Loved her personal story of how she got on this path. Love all the amazing quotes on energy work, healing, the light of Christ, etc. I share this book with everyone who is interested in the energy medicine world and how it relates to the light of Christ and healing.

A Book You'll Want to Keep on Your Nightstand!

This wonderful book has 8 pages (small type) of Works Cited, not bad for a book under 113 pages (the majority if which are full-color slide form)! I have found all of the quotes to be given within context and immediately relative to the subject. This book has given me incredible insight into scriptures and scientific findings, bringing them together to validate each other. I started to highlight the slides I wanted to remember and found I was highlighting everything! I LOVE THIS BOOK! I have read it, re-read it, and will read it again and again.

Powerful insights into the energy around us!

This might be one of the best books I have ever purchased! To find all the quotes and scriptures she has compiled would take years and would be fruitless since she has already done all the hard work for us. This book has increased my testimony of the Atonement and God's healing powers. It explains in both a secular and spiritual way the light of Christ and supports it with teachings of modern day prophets. Thank you Tamara for making all your hard work available for others to learn from!

Useful, but overpriced

Everything in this book should have been included in the first. What's here isn't worth the $50 price tag.
To get a decent page count, the author filled pages with bigger than needed pictures. Some pages had only a single paragraph. Rather than take a picture of a component on the "right" side of the machine, he just used a picture already used (say of the "left" component). Some fixtures were absurdly complex -- why CNC cut a four sided box when a 2 gang electrical box will work as good or better?
The information contained therein is useful -- the wire management chain for one, setting up limit switches for another. It's just that with some searching, you can find most info on the internet for free.
I bought the book; I'm not going to throw it away. It's just overpriced.
