Couldn't put the book down ~ total book hangover

Genevieve Jack did it again with her third book in the Knight Games Series, Queen of the Hill. The author weaves you through the pages of this book making you feel as if you’re right there with the characters as the plot unfolds. Right from the very beginning I quickly escaped into this book which left me thirsty for more …. talk about one hell of a book hangover when I was through.

This paranormal urban fantasy is packed with captivating characters one can’t help but to get emotionally attached to; especially Grateful Knight who is the smart, sassy heroine and the Monks Hill Witch. She definitely has her hands full… not only is she trying to plan a wedding but has some unforeseen challenges leading up to the big day; her “Happily Ever After” starts to look grim when Tabetha the Salem’s Witch comes knocking on her door wanting to collect on a debt which unfortunately happens to be her caretaker/ fianc� Rick…..leave it to a man to strike a deal with the devil, well in this case it’s a nasty evil witch who makes any of the Disney Witches look like kittens.

Suffice it to say Grateful isn’t about to let a beautiful, evil, psycho witch take her man and thanks to her ever so cynical/sarcastic familiar Poe (who happens to be a Raven), her fianc� Rick and a couple of vampires they all join forces to try and figure out a way to clear the debt that is owned and to solve the disappearance of Julius who is the leader of the vampire coven.

From the very beginning of this book I was on a mind-blowing, adventurous, fight for your life adrenaline rush, there were many moments that I couldn’t help but laugh out loud and even yell out “what are you thinking” but this is the result of a truly amazing author who can take you away to a world full of magic with just her words.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Two words come to mind when I finished this book (and the series) - book hangover. I cannot give enough praise to this series of books. When I first started reading The Ghost and the Graveyard (first installment in the series), I was a bit concerned as I thought the book moved way too fast for my liking. Luckily, as you dive into Genevieve's Knight Games Series you understand why!

This time Grateful Knight is planning her wedding with the love of her life, and her caretaker - Rick. Life is great; Grateful has the house of her dreams - which just so happens to be her throne - she has the love of her life back in her grasp, and things at work at going great. Nothing could go wrong as the events of their wedding begin to unfold into her happily ever after.

Unfortunately, things couldn't go more wrong when the Salem witch, Tabetha, arrives to collect her debt from Rick. Before Grateful had said yes to his marriage proposal, the caretaker had given up on ever being with Grateful again. Collecting a magic candle - that would turn him back into his mortal form - from the Salem witch seems to be more of an issue than they ever thought possible. Grateful's life takes a turn when the murder at Thames Theater leaves them all scratching their heads.

I don't want to spoil the ending - I may have said too much already! Be sure to check out the series starting with The Ghost in the Graveyard. You won't be disappointed with this outstanding author who takes an aspect of the Salem Witch Trials, and puts a clever paranormal adult romance twist on them!

Be happy

This little book contains 10 meditative, philosophic essays on happiness. Each essay talks about a different "practice," or mind set, that can aid in increasing happiness. In the first essay, for example, we are urged to follow our instincts, our inner desires, rather than dutifully obeying what society and our intellect tells us we must do.

Kehoe is not a psychologist so do not expect a scientific approach. Instead he writes from the perspective of one who has lived a successful and happy life, and who has thought long and read widely about the subject.

I recommend reading a chapter a day to give your mind a chance to think over the various messages. You might even find you want to read the book several times to absorb the material. The text is certainly not boring, has pertinent quotes scattered through it, and is illustrated with interesting pictures to meditate on.

A small book with some wonderful insights into happiness

I have read, and enjoyed, several of John Kehoe's book and this one is no exception. In some of his other books like, "Mind Power into the 20th Century" and his most recent work, "Quantum Warrior" John uses a style that is quite interactive and full of great lessons that need to be put into use. In order to gain the benefits of the material in those two books, the reader needs to be quite pro-active and do the work physically.

This book, "The Practice of Happiness", is not only smaller and shorter in length, the style is also different in that it is more of a discourse - not a scientific discourse; rather, it is written from the point of view of somebody who has learned from the school of life.

John Kehoe a uses aspects of his personal life mixed in with quotes and aphorisms from many sources to share a wisdom about happiness that many know, yet so few truly practice. There are many wonderful quotes in the book, but I would like to share something from Mr. Kehoe himself, "Inner harmony and happiness are not just for ourselves: they are gifts that we give to the world. And here a great truth is revealed."

If you could use more happiness in your life, this book would be a great place to start.

Amazing communication with a human spirit! Enlightening!

This book is short but gets right to the point -- a group interaction, through the author, with a human spirit who was known to one of the group members before his passing. As questions are asked and answered, it is easy to sense and visualize what is transpiring in the spirit world. Direct and honest, this book is an eye-opener if ever there was one. Highly recommended, and a very quick and easy read.

Run Rabbit Run!

This was a story I could not wait to read. It was about a type of shifter I really love, adorable Bunny shifters, right down to their twitchy noses. I read this two weeks ago and enjoyed it very much.

A big bad Alpha Wolf scents his little mate a Rabbit shifter suddenly in the midst of a street race crowd. He could not find him at first, but that beautiful elusive smell compelled him to keep looking. Suddenly THERE! And then the chase was on - his small Bunny had no intentions of being caught by the huge scary looking Wolf that pursued him through the streets.

Bounty hunter Wolfe was dead set on tracking down his mate especially after his pursuit had been rudely interrupted. As a big male Wolf he was all set to find his mate and immediately Claim him. But he never informed his wily Rabbit of his plans.

Peter Rabbit might have been a small guy, but he was not a push over. Actually he was one tough Bunny. Despite his forceful personality Mr Wolfe has met his match in a weak little Bunny. Peter refuses to be pushed around by the big dolt.

The mate pull is really hard to withstand. It's driving Wolfe crazy and having a similar but not as intense reaction for the Rabbit. While he is all gungho about their mating the Wolf wants to have his Bunny meet him halfway. But it's so hard for Wolfe to control his Alpha tendencies especially his jealousy and strong need to claim his mate.

How can two shifters who are complete opposites find common ground? How can a prey and a predator shifter even begin to understand each others worlds? And what about their families? How do they react? For the Bunny his very close Rabbit folks and for the Wolf his pack members.

This is a fun book. A pleasant surprise that made me smile and laugh out loud. It had poignancy when it came to family. If you like Bunnies, shifter stories, mate bonding, importance of family and once again Bunnies then this book is for you.

Cute pairing but nothing memorable

Not much in terms of plot. A weak and forgettable story line. I kept waiting for something to happen. At the end just a sweet romance with the usual lots of sex. Only thing going for the story is the werewolf and rabbit shifter pairing which is cute. I am really fed up with paying this amount of money for these stereotypes.

Alpha Max Wolfe is in charge of an unusual pack. His people are cast offs, the misfits that other packs threw out or those who survived the decimation of their own pack. They have bonded together with the wolf shifter as their leader. Now passing the century mark Wolfe is a successful bounty hunter who also dabbles in racing for extra income.

After a recent race Wolfe caught a scent in the crowd that had to have been his mate. When he tried to chase the scent down he caught sight of a young man but somehow lost him. Once he picked up the scent again Wolfe tracked down Peter Bennett, a rabbit shifter who saves abused animals when he’s not working at an animal shelter.

Of all the cosmic twists of fate – pairing a predator to prey as mates. Wolfe’s inner animal is driving him to consummate their relationship, to bond forever. As for Peter he’s skeptical that they can work things out. He’s not sure they can ever find common ground and asks Wolfe to wait, to let them get to know each other before making the ultimate commitment. After all they only get one mate in a lifetime. Patience, Wolfe, patience. Surely it’s not too much to ask.

Wolfe and His Bunny charmingly questions what fate was thinking matching a wolf and a rabbit. Time after time readers see Wolfe stumble during his attempts to court Peter who proves to have a great deal of patience. Each makes mistakes, sometimes big mistakes. What sets Wolfe and His Bunny above other books is that Wolfe and Peter are willing to keep trying. Neither throws in the towel on love. Through false starts and speed bumps Wolfe and His Bunny triumphs.
