About the Author
Russ Hazelcorn, better known as Eddie Z, is a full-time day trader, educator, and total computer geek. He is the creator of www.EZBreakouts.com, an educational website focused on teaching traders exactly how to day trade and swing trade US equities. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Eddie Z had a 17-year career as a licensed stockbroker. Now he enjoys trading his own accounts exclusively. He holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Penn State and an MBA from Lehigh University, but he attributes real-world, in-the-trenches experiences to some of his greatest learning.

Great Addition To The Trading Library

Excellent book for those who are not only fascinated by financial markets but also love reading about the experiences of others that have successfully navigated them. In a fresh approach to the trader interview genre, "What It Takes" makes a conscious effort to focus on "real life" traders who manage to consistently pull money out of the markets.
While stories of mega returns from superstars like William J. O'Neil or Ed Seykota make for entertaining reading, it can be difficult at times to relate to their experiences. "What It Takes" offers interviews with traders who started off in regular 9-5's just like you or me. They went through similar experiences that many of us have:
Attending trading seminars
Purchasing course work
Jumping from one "holy grail" indicator to the next
Joining investment clubs
Losing all their money
Seeking out mentors
Psychological hang ups
Then finally having a break-through moment
What I find most unique about "What It Takes" is that it doesn't focus on Billion-Dollar-Bets or being the first one to analyze trends on a punch card. "What It Takes" focuses on the core issues that traders must overcome (in our current day) in order change from being a consistent loser to a consistent winner.

Very Helpful Book!

As a new trader, I was hoping to find mentors that would share all the mistakes and successes they have experienced in their trading careers in an effort to reduce the rather large learning curve associated with the trading business, hopefully by many years. This book definitely delivers. The traders interviewed in this book have provided many useful and actionable practices that can be applied immediately to the individuals trading methods. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their abilities in their endeavors to financial independence through this very difficult business of trading the financial markets. On a different yet similar note: I have recently discovered that most of the problems I was having with my own trading was because of inferior, not up to the task, computer equipment I was using. Even though my computer was only 3 months old, it was not up to the task of trading these high speed markets. State of the art trading equipment is a must have for your trading business. As coincidence would have it, the author of this book owns EZ Trading Computers. That's [...] EZ Trading Computers delivered my new computer a couple weeks ago. This machine is amazing! No more issues. Just lightning speed and good order executions and is the industry leader with a 5 year warranty, lifetime labor and support, unbelievable! Don't buy a trading computer from anyone else. Good luck with your trading education and quest for financial independence!

I know some of the traders in the book personally (so cool! )

This was an exciting book to read for a few reasons. First, I know some of the traders in the book personally (so cool!). I even got to help out with the first interview for the book (even cooler!). Even more importantly, I love hearing other people's war stories--how they climbed to the top, failed and then made it back again. Books are more than just books to me. To me books are like a chat with a successful mentor. Reading a good book is like having a chance to be mentored by the author. It helps me model their results and avoid their mistakes.
I learned something from every trader in this book! There were a few tips in the Rob Booker interview I never would've though of. Even if you only get one small distinction, or new idea from this book it can change your trading for the better!
