The only book that you will need !

This is my second book and Darrell Young's books will be my only books. I made the mistake with my prior camera buying a book, not fully understanding my camera, buying another book, not understanding till I finally found Mr Young's book and the lightbulb finally went on. With my new camera, his book was the first and last purchased and I know all that I need to know. His book is put in a language that I can understand. He also adds what he recommends as a setting and why at the end of his explanations, which gives a great "starting point" till you shoot and want to make adjustments on your own. Highly recommend his books.

She is a faculty member at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, teaching in the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program.

it has been SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!!

Don't waste your time or money!

I've been hearing about this book for the last 3 years, and was ECSTATIC when it was released right before I needed to start studying for my AC boards. However, it has been SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! If you've done a certification review coarse (i.e. Barkley), this is THE OPPOSITE. This book is written like a broad overview of all topics (and every section seems like the authors got up on their prideful-high-horse, and used it as a chance to show how much they know) as opposed to an exam prep. This should be a REVIEW - not an overall rehashing of the entire AC program. There are so many technical terms used that I had to look things up that I had never heard of (and won't need to know for the exam or practice). Also, there are several bullet points made suggesting things like "research now may suggest 'x' is the appropriate treatment of 'y'." We all know that it takes 15+ years for research to turn into actual standards of care. For the purpose of the boards, something either IS or ISN'T the right management. Another example of how the authors were trying to show off all their knowledge/research/background in the area instead of just letting us know what's to be expected of us on the boards.

Not to mention - did anyone edit this book??? There are so many typos, and even notes within the text saying things like "delete phrase - edit areas....." Did anyone read this, or did they just rush to put this out to make money??

I think this is a waste of time. I've stopped reading it, and am back to reviewing all my class materials. Considering my program has a 100% first-time pass rate for the AC boards, I'm going to trust the tried & true material. No more wasting my time with the minutia of this text. WASTE OF TIME & MONEY.

I and several classmates purchased this book for our Kindles ...

I and several classmates purchased this book for our Kindles and Nooks in preparation for our boards. I am unable to locate the self-assessment exams (as detailed in the description of the book). I can only locate the 6-8 questions at the end of the chapters. I have called Amazon 3 times and, unfortunately, have received zero help. (This particular dept @ Amazon cannot see the contents of book and actually suggested googling the author's name to ask where the exams are located.) Their final suggestion was to leave this review with the hopes that the publisher would see it and offer some assistance. (Amazon will not release the contact information of the publisher because the information is considered private). If ANYONE can offer ANY assistance, we would be VERY appreciative!!!
UPDATE - I returned the Kindle version of this book and purchased the actual book. I found the bullet points helpful, but was again disappointed with the test. The final assessment is 200 questions; however, the test is a word document that you must download from the publisher's website. This is not a computer generated assessment. Some test questions are also repeats of the questions found after each section.

The bullets are nice. I ordered the Kindle version at the end of August thinking it would be a great study guide, since it boasts 750+ questions. Which is sort of true, there are several questions at the end of each section. But it says there are 2- 200 question self assessment quizzes. They will give you the access code to the self assessment questions if you call them and give them your receipt, BUT they aren't available yet. Which means its ok to help review. I wish it had disclosed that the questions weren't yet ready. I'll have already taken my test by the time they will be available. So then I won't need them! Frustrating.....

I am Professor of Geography and Biostatistics at the University at Buffalo. My research interests are in the area of demography and population change, epidemiology, spatial statistics, and spatial analysis. My current work is focused upon the development of new methods for the quick detection of newly emergent clusters in geographic data (for example, how does one determine as quickly as possible whether there is a new cluster of crime or disease?).

A very good book

This is a very good statistic book. The book provides detailed information about applying statistics in geographical context. The book is easy to read, informative but not too extensive. Enough details are given for each concepts. The examples are extremely helpful in understand the principles of spatial issues. Some ideas in this book are creative and easy to use. It has it value in practise too. If you are interested in doing spatial statistics. This book will be a wonderful start point.

Difficult and Confusing Text

I am using this book in a senior-level research methods course and my classmates and I are all very frustrated with it. It assumes you already know all of the methods, and even though I have a good statistics background, I am having difficulties. It is extremely time-consuming to work through, so expect to spend a very significant amount of time on each chapter. I do not recommend this book for any individual with little or no statistics knowledge, and I caution those who do know statistics.

Frustrating Book

Unless you are proficient in statistics, this book will be very frustrating for students. I have trouble finding adequate explanations and definitions, and I am supposed to know this stuff. Their are numerous editing mistakes which adds to the students frustration, and could someone provide an answer key to the assignments. It reinforces the inability of some to understand how and what students need to learn.

The most readable introductory text to quantum mechanics that I have found. It covers all the core basic topics with great clarity and builds up the subject through clear examples and demonstrations. I would strongly recommend it for anyone's physics library.

This book is one of the clearest and well written introductions to the subject I've read. I recommend it hands down over Griffiths or Cohen-Tannoudji. My only gripe is that it needs more problems (and solutions too) at the end of each chapter.
